Today’s been pretty fulfilling. I’ve done a full-home vacuuming and gone over with soap and water (I am very glad I have a small home). I’ve cleaned. And now I’m preparing a few notes before me and my wife — bless her — are off to our weekly roleplaying game. We’re currently playing the What Follows in Shadow adventure in the Wheel of Time RPG setting, and I angle to send the characters headlong into the Prophecies of the Dragon series of adventure later. Mwahahaha… They’re in for a RIDE!

I’m also pondering how to most easily deal with my forgetfulness. Will I remember to look up appointments in an appointment book? Gah, if only my memory hadn’t started to fail on me.

We progress further, and reach four in the afternoon. Work. Unfortunately, my kids, as I so lovingly call them, failed to show up. So I effectively got paid for two hours’ worth of sitting in front of the TV discussing NWN with my colleagues, most of whom are avid players. Today’s topic of discussion was the spell of Flesh to Stone, and whether one should be allowed to hack people apart while they are stoned(sic). There seems to be a general consensus, both on the server forums and amongst my DM group, that they have the God-given (that is, krikkert-given) right to hack people apart. So I guess I’ll have to implement that. Sooner or later. Preferably later.. It’s going to be some hairy coding on my part.

Another topic of discussion was the Dominate route of spells. I introduced my idea of actually letting you control the PC you Dominate — effectively, in game terms, copying the PC object and making an NPC, then setting that NPC as a henchman of the dominating player. That is going to scare people away from playing low-Will fighters. I love it. Even better, it’s going to scare teams into buffing up their fighters. A Hold Monster spell isn’t scary — sure, the fighter won’t be fighting, who cares? Now, if the fighter is suddenly fighting against them, that’s a whole other kettle of fish.
